Remodeling Your Kitchen,
Part Three.

What will my new kitchen cost?

It's very difficult to really tell until some preliminary planning is done.

On a national average, the cost of a new kitchen is over $25,000. The average cost in the Sheboygan County area is considerably less. This investment will buy you new cabinets, a sink, countertops, floor covering, range hood, light fixtures and installation. Major rebuilding is not included in this price.

It's very difficult to identify the cost of a kitchen until the kitchen is completely planned, because there are so many choices. For example, you can spend $900 on a refrigerator or over $8,000. A 48" wall cabinet can cost $300 or $1,500. You can pay an installer $25 an hour or $60 an hour. Since there is no such thing as an average kitchen, average figures are difficult to use. A new kitchen can cost about what a car will... $9,000 to over $50,000.

It is important, at this point, to set a rough budget for your kitchen. This will help both you and your designer determine what you want your investment to be. Don't make plans that will never be possible.... however, remember this is an investment.. The remodeling industry studies show that you could recoup up to 125% of the investment if you sell your home in a years time. Even after 10 years, with good cabinetry, you probably would recover 70% or more
